Pezeshkian’s meeting with an Israeli professor in the United States sparked controversy in the Iranian media

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s meeting with Israeli professor Liver Sternfeld of the University of Pennsylvania at the conference “The Role of Divine Religions in Establishing World Peace” held in New York, USA, was criticized in the government media.

The “Telegram” channel “Azad Iran” reported about this.

After growing criticism in the Iranian press, the country’s representation at the UN issued a statement and stated that it was not aware of the professor’s Israeli identity. At the same time, the delegation said that it was summoned to the conference because of its activities against Israel.

The professor said in an interview with the newspaper “Haaretz”: “Iran’s representation at the UN knew that I was an Israeli citizen. I told them from the beginning.”

It was noted that, in addition to Liver Sternfeld, several Israelis also participated in the conference. However, the professor’s invitation to the conference and the meeting with Pezeshkian were planned in advance.
