German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Olaf Scholz will be nominated as a candidate for chancellor in the early elections of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). This was announced by the German Tagesschau news service on November 17.
“We have a candidate for the position of chancellor, I firmly assume that Olaf Scholz will be nominated.” – said Pistorius.
The SPD will decide on the election of the candidate at the party conference no later than January 11.
“We are talking about achieving a good result in the new elections. We will not achieve this if we discuss a candidate for the position of chancellor.” – Pistorius explained.
