Podemos bases demand that budgets be conditional on the government’s break with Israel and a 40% reduction in rents

The Podemos base is asking the party to increase the price of its support. The activism of the purple formation approved this Monday the conditionality of support for the General Budgets of the State on three conditions: a legal reduction in rents of 40%; sever relations with Israel and dismantle “squad commandos like Desokupa”.

The question supported by those registered was: “Do you agree that Podemos agrees with the government to act against the genocidal state of Israel and end the housing crisis to vote in favor of general budgets? A 89% of 38,324 participants voted in favor.

With this decision, the party of Ione Belarra puts a price not only on budgets but on the stability of the entire legislative body, at a time when the government does not have great support, neither internally nor outside of Congress. In the socialist part of the government, in fact, there has been speculation for weeks that the approval of the annual accounts could give them enough oxygen to last three more years as a minority.

The conditions of the purple are clear: “That the Government immediately sever relations commercial and diplomatic with the genocidal State of Israel, including a complete arms embargo. That the rental price be reduced by 40% by law and prohibit the purchase of housing in Spain other than to reside, in addition to immediately dismantling squad commandos like Desokupa”.

In total, 38,324 people participated in the consultation. Of these, 34,417 (89.81%) voted in favor of the issue. 3,096 rejected this approach, or 8%. Just over 800 people voted blank.

“Now the votes of Podemos are going to be decisive and, if the PSOE wants them, it will have to accept these two conditions,” warned Fernández, comparing their demands to “the amnesty law” agreed with Junts and ERC in Congress.
