This is not the first time this has happened: in August 2022, a “macro boat party” was held on the protected island of Ciervo in the Mar Menor, a situation that was repeated last Saturday. A large number of boats and jet skis were anchored nearby and were holding a “nautical bottle”.
The regional deputy of Podemos María Marín denounced this Monday the celebration of the so-called “botellón”: “In the Region of Murcia of López Miras, there are no rules or laws for the richest – she said -, to the point that they can celebrate a macro party in a protected natural space with total impunity.
Marín demanded the urgent appearance of the Minister of the Environment of Murcia, Juan María Vázquez, in the Regional Assembly and asked the Ministry of Ecological Transition (Miteco) “to intervene once and for all.”
“If López Miras is neither interested nor capable of protecting our natural spaces, Miteco cannot stand idly by,” Marín criticized.
Complaint from environmentalists in action
Two years ago, Ecologists in Action denounced the company that organized the previous party on the island of Ciervo del Mar Menor for the “possible non-compliance” with the decree-law on public shows and recreational activities. This decree considers as a very serious violation “the celebration of public shows or occasional or extraordinary recreational activities without a qualifying title or exceeding their limits, when serious damage or deterioration of the environment has occurred.”
The Île aux Cerfs is part of the Protected Natural Area of the Natura 2000 Network, among the protection figures, among which are the Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA), the Special Conservation Area (ZEC) and the Wetland of Special International and Mediterranean Importance. Area (ZEPIM).
