Pogrom in Amsterdam: the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, appealed

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, strongly condemned the attacks on fans of the Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv in Amsterdam.

She said she was shocked by the incidents and highlighted the unacceptability of anti-Semitic actions in Europe. In her post on Platform X, von der Leyen noted that she had already discussed this issue with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.

According to her, Europe is obliged to fight against all forms of hatred and will vigorously oppose any manifestation of discrimination.

As a reminder, Israeli security forces are beefing up security ahead of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball game in Bologna, Italy, taking place this afternoon.

These preparations came in response to incidents in Amsterdam, when Israeli fans were attacked after a soccer match against Ajax.

During the attack on Friday night, a Muslim mob attacked Israelis, causing many injuries. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seven citizens remain missing, while five received medical attention in hospitals. The total number of victims, according to preliminary estimates, ranges between 10 and 20 people.

Amsterdam police have begun investigating the incident and have already arrested 62 suspects. There is speculation about a possible hostage situation, although this has not yet been confirmed. Some of the people previously reported missing have been found.

Israeli security forces are also considering asking fans not to attend the Bologna match for their safety. The Israeli Foreign Ministry is still trying to contact citizens who have not been contacted, suggesting their phones may have been lost or damaged in the attack.

Previously, Kursor wrote that Israel warned the Netherlands about the impending pogrom, but no action was taken.

Israel has announced plans by jihadists to organize a mass demonstration disguised as a pro-Palestinian demonstration.
