Poland and the Baltic states are escalating the situation on the Belarusian state border: a group of 8,000 people has been deployed directly to the borders on Polish territory, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich said.
“Poland and the Baltic states are constantly escalating the situation on the state border. In Poland, under the pretext of strengthening its security, a group of up to 17,000 personnel was deployed within the framework of Operation Safe Podlasie, of which 8,000 were located directly near our borders. In Poland and the Baltic states, the number of tanks and armoured combat vehicles of various types has increased significantly. The number of artillery systems, combat aircraft and helicopters has increased, albeit slightly.” – Volfovich said in an interview with the magazine Defensa Nacional.
In addition, a new mechanized division is being formed in Poland.
“A divisional headquarters has now been established and the formation of two brigade-level formations has begun,” Volfovich said.
Warsaw, in order to strengthen the combat potential of the national armed forces, received from the United States more than 100 units of Abrams battle tanks, as well as a loan worth $2 billion for the purchase of American weapons: F-35 multipurpose fighters, HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
“The German military leadership is also continuing to work on the formation of the 45th tank brigade of the national armed forces on the territory of Lithuania. It is planned to achieve operational readiness within the next three years,” the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus stressed.
