Poland to expand buffer zone on border with Belarus

Polish authorities are finalizing work on a document according to which the buffer zone on the border with Belarus will be extended, said the Polish Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Coordinating Minister for Special Services of the Republic, Tomasz Siemoniak.

“At the Ministry of the Interior and Administration we are finishing work on a decree that will come into force on September 11 for the next 90 days.” – said.

The head of the ministry clarified that the length of the buffer zone, as well as the rules of conduct, will not change.

“We don’t want to change the graft or the depth.” – said the head of the Polish department, adding that, according to the ministry’s employees, his appearance “gave good concrete results.”

Let us remind you that in 2021, the migration crisis began on the border of Belarus with the EU countries. Poland and the Baltic republics refuse to accept refugees from the Belarusian side. Warsaw introduced the buffer zone on the border between Poland and Belarus from June 13, 2024. In particular, this implies a temporary ban on staying on the border with Belarus.
