September 4, Metroteka – the first library in Warsaw Metro – opened at Metro Kondratovica.

Although the new library covers only 150 square meters. Designers from the GK-Autlier studio from Grzegorz Kloda used the unusual space as much as possible, installing Wavy Libraries to accommodate more books, as well as tables and an angle for children.

Laptops are also available in space for use during work. The library has a self -service coffee machine that gives coffee, tea and cocoa. Modern means allow you to borrow and return books. There are also board games for those who want to relax or play with friends.

The interior is decorated with numerous hydropopone plants – cultivated without soil under artificial lighting, including climbing, aromatic herbs and flowers.

The mayor of Warsaw Rafal Transkovsky commented on the inauguration of the library on the X platform: “And I did not say that the metro is a good place to read?” – He wrote.

The library is not only a place for quiet reading, but also an educational space for a local community. There are plans to meet writers, seminars and events for children and adults.

Metroteka is open daily from 10 in the morning. By 7 pm, it was created thanks to the cooperation of the Targówek public library with the regional council and the Barsaw Metro Directors Board of Directors.
