Charles Leclerc will start from the first position on the grid this Sunday in Baku, during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Monegasque was the fastest in Q3, during which Max Verstappen disappointed by finishing in sixth place. However, the fall of Lando Norris, eliminated in Q1, leaves a good balance for the leader of the World Championship.
Leclerc dominated qualifying, covering the 6,003 metres of the Azerbaijani capital’s track – the fourth longest in the championship – in one minute, 41.365 seconds, 321 seconds slower than Australian Oscar Piastri.
Carlos Sainz, who will start third after Piastri squeezed through the Ferraris, had a very good session to fight for the podium this Sunday. Fernando Alonso, who miraculously made it into Q3, finished better than the Williams and will start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix eighth.
