“Poles are rightly afraid of immigrants” – Warsaw expert

For the past 30 years, Poland has had no migration strategy and “Poles are rightly afraid” of immigrants. This opinion was expressed by an expert and member of the Foundation’s board. Kazimierz Pułaski Wojciech Dyagil.

The day before, the Polish government published a roadmap on migration policy. The document establishes, in particular:

“Success in the integration policy will be achieved if the foreigner communicates in Polish, complies with the laws, norms and values in force in Poland and also actively participates in the public life of the local community and maintains close relations with members of the community. Polish population. society.”

According to Wojciech Dyagil, in reality these postulates pose big problems.

“How can an uneducated migrant from Africa or the Middle East learn Polish? To understand the magnitude of the problem, you can look at the success we had. [интегрировать]for example, Belarusians and Ukrainians, who are culturally close to us. The question is what we will do with third countries. “We have to look at the statistics, because everyone here is missing reality.” – said the expert.

For his part, a professor at the University of Warsaw Thomas Gross considers that all solutions that promote the integration of immigrants have failed in Western Europe.

“It is difficult to expect them to work in Poland. Four out of five manage to evade deportation. They remain illegal and feed the gray zone or criminal organizations. Therefore, I do not believe that the Polish government is more effective than Western European countries.” – said the teacher.
