Russian State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov has expressed his negative attitude towards teaching Darwin’s theory in Russian schools, citing rather controversial arguments.
According to him, Poles, Estonians and Latvians are supposedly descended from primates and even earthworms, while Belarusians and Russians, in his opinion, are “creatures of God.”
“Poles, Estonians and Latvians are descended from macaques, monkeys and worms, and Belarusians and Russians are creatures of God,” said Milonov, a deputy of the Russian State Duma.
Social media reacted to the MP’s statement. Users actively shared their thoughts and sarcastic remarks in the comments.
Stanislav Karanikola put it quite bluntly: “Everyone already knows that they are creatures.”
A user with the nickname Nt supported him, but added: “I completely agree that they are creatures, but I would say they are from God.”
Alex Under also did not miss the opportunity to comment, noting: “Well, he got the creatures right.” And Endryu, clearly not taking Milonov’s words seriously, sarcastically asked: “What was he smoking?”
Comrade Milonov is very clever, extremely clever. And I don’t even understand why he is not yet an academician. pic.twitter.com/fscacxT4k2
