A person accused of resisting police has been arrested after an armed raid on an apartment in Baku.
Oku.Az reports that this is stated in the joint information of the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior (MIA).
On September 9, at around 9:00 p.m., unknown persons raided the apartment of Rauf Ismayilov, who is engaged in business activities, and demanded a large sum of money.
Based on information provided by the victim’s son to the 102 call center by monitoring footage from a surveillance camera installed in the apartment, armed resistance was offered to the police officers who arrived at the scene. Eldeniz Shukurov, born in 1972 and previously convicted on numerous occasions, was neutralized among the people participating in the armed raid by the police officers’ retaliatory measures, and the other person escaped from the scene.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office under relevant sections of the Penal Code.
Interrogations, searches, inspections and other urgent investigative actions were carried out by a professional investigative and operational team consisting of prosecutors and police officers. A Makarov pistol, a shell casing, fingerprints and other items used in the search were taken as material evidence.
As a result of intensive investigation and operational search measures, the identity of another participant in the crime, Orkhan Abdullayev, born in 1994, was established.
The fact that Orkhan Abdullayev previously colluded with Eldeniz Shukurov and raided the apartment of businessman Rauf Ismayilov in order to obtain a large amount of income, demanded a large amount of money and used force disobeying the lawful demands of the police officers who arrived at the scene raised reasonable suspicions.
Based on the evidence gathered, Orkhan Abdullayev was charged with 181.3.2 of the Criminal Code (theft for the purpose of obtaining a large amount of property), 228.2.1 (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation or transport of firearms by a group of persons who had previously conspired) and 315 (he was charged with the articles of resistance or use of force against a representative of the authorities and was presented as an accused). Based on the request of the investigator and the submission of the prosecutor who procedurally led the preliminary investigation, the measure of pre-trial detention was chosen.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is currently underway and complex operational and investigative measures are being carried out to determine the circle of all persons involved in the crime and hold them accountable.
