They say that a fish dies in the mouth, a saying that could very well apply, although with slight modifications, to the practices of two young people from Cadiz, who were captured not by the mouth, but by the nose, as was the case with the strong smell of marijuana coming from an apartment in a neighborhood of Jerez de la Frontera.
The young people, 22 and 23 years old, were arrested by the National Police as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health and fraud of electrical fluid for the cultivation of 70 marijuana plants in an apartment in the Federico Mayo neighborhood discovered by the smell that the plantation gave off and the noise that it came from the establishment.
As detailed by the provincial police station in a press release, in the so-called Operation ‘White’ they intervened 70 marijuana plants and various utensils intended for accelerated cultivation and drug processing such as ten sets of LED lamps, three fans, two air conditioners, ten magnetic ballasts, an electrical panel and two air distributors.
The survey included monitoring to detect the origin of the substance and people involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the plantation. The officers checked high energy consumption caused by the devices necessary to ensure optimal conditions for growing this type of plants and they discovered that the electricity supply came from an illegal connection to the electricity grid.
Once the court orders were obtained, the investigated home was entered and searched, where the agents seized 70 marijuana plants that yielded a weight of 19 kilos of narcotic substance ready for sale. Most of the plants were in an optimal state of growth, close to harvest.
The alleged perpetrators were arrested and transferred to the police station in Jerez de la Frontera, where they remained in the custody area until they were placed at the disposal of the investigating court for custody.
