Many residents of Mutxamel (Alicante) are preparing for their holidays of Moors and Christians 2024, with the assembly of barracks and with atmosphere, everything is ready for the start of the big days, this Saturday. And they had a good fright, when a hoax has already spread denial by local police that a group of minors had committed a kidnapping and 46 rapes.
The fake message also stated that these crimes had been committed in the area where these places of celebration are located, in the streets of the urban area. Although, at first glance, such a crazy number of sexual assaults on a population of 25,000 inhabitants already seemed exaggerated, the case triggered the predictable alarm.
To make it more credible, it was mentioned that there was a reinforcement of “police forces” and it was mentioned that “behind” these attacks there was “a group of minors“.
This last detail may be related to the crisis recently experienced in another municipality of Alicante, Guardamar del Segura, where they were located complaints of assaults, robberies and sexual harassment against young people allegedly committed by foreign minors temporarily accommodated. In this case, even the mayor asked the central government for measures and assistance to solve the problem of insecurity.
But today, city security officials are faced with “fake news”: “The Local police de Mutxamel informs all citizens that we are aware of a #fake that is circulating on the networks. Is totally false. And we hope you have a happy Moorish and Christian holiday 2024.
