Police macro-operation in the narco apartments of the Jiménez clan, on Cullera Street and in Toledo, with almost 300 agents

Cullera Street, in the Latina neighborhood, is the scene, along with other adjacent streets, of a police macro-operation against the drug-related stories of the Jiménez clan. There are 288 national police officers deployed both in this neighborhood of Lucero and in the province of Toledo. Also in other neighborhoods of the city and in the Calypo Fado urbanization of Casarrubios del Monte (Toledo).

The houses belong to the old Ivima and are framed in a serpentine space, where the agents arrived before seven in the morning. These are very recurrent drug storage and sales points, especially heroin and cocaine, where the neighbors are afraid and fed up with this environment. In fact, the Madrid City Council has given the green light for the installation of video surveillance cameras in this very hostile environment in the southwest of the capital.

In November 2020, 200 police officers carried out a similar operation at numbers 8, 10, 14 and 16, where 22 people from four generations of the same clan were arrested. €6,000 in cash, a firearm and jewellery as well as narcotics were seized. The police believe that this could now be the largest heroin sales point in the entire region.

Both in Madrid and in a chalet on Zaragoza de Casarrubios street, there are agents of the Canine Unit, the Udyco of Madrid, the UIP (anti-riot) and the Cavalry, among others.

This Monday, a 55-year-old drug addict died of heart failure at the doors of one of these drug floors. Several units of the National Police went to the scene, because there was a great deal of excitement in the area.

Relatives of the deceased, of gypsy origin and residents of the Caño Roto area, went to the scene and blamed drug dealers in the area for the death. “One of us for one of yours,” they shouted, swearing revenge and promising to “burn the building,” eyewitnesses told Ep.

Neighborhood Concern

The residents of the neighborhood have been complaining for some time about the situation of the drug apartments and what this means for the Lucero neighborhood. The Lucero Neighborhood Association has addressed the three administrations to demand a 24-hour police presence in the neighborhood, the recovery of these squatted apartments on Cullera Street, which belong to the Social Housing Agency, and the immediate installation of surveillance cameras, which the City Council has promised for 2025.

Neighbors reported an increase in drug storage and trafficking in apartments located several doors down from Cullera Street and surrounding areas, as well as constant intimidation of neighbors and physical deterioration of doors, elevators and stairs.

In June, the Professional College of Criminology of the Community of Madrid (CPCM) presented to the Government Delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, and also sent to the City Council of the capital, a detailed protocol of global action to combat the “narcos” of the Lucero neighborhood and the insecurity they generate.
