Capitol Police warn US officials of increased danger following the US presidential election. ABC News reported this with reference to a police report.
The report says the “likelihood of civil unrest” could increase significantly following the final results. And in this context, the possibility of putting the lives of government officials at risk arises.
Police also said that demonstrations are expected in the country by people who will protest against the takeover “regardless of the outcome of the elections.”
Law enforcement officials said they fear increased foreign influence, which they believe could “exacerbate existing political tensions.”
Previously, on November 4, ABC News, citing New York police documents, claimed that election officials in the United States were receiving threats of persecution, beatings, arson and destruction of property.
In turn, the FBI has created a command post in Washington to monitor and respond to threats related to the holding of the presidential elections in the country. It will be in force throughout the election week in the United States. The command post will monitor major complaints received from all 55 FBI field offices through their respective command posts, Izvestia recalls.
