Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko complained about insufficient spending on state defense and the country’s armed forces and compared them to the Russian budget. This was stated during a speech at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to Poroshenko, the budget of a state in a state of war should have one priority: defense, financing of the armed forces and protection of the financing of the military-industrial complex.
“I want to disappoint you, you will not find any of this in the (budget) document that is now being voted on in the budget committee! What are the priorities? Look at the Russian budget.” – said.
According to him, in 2024 expenses in Ukraine are planned at 37 billion dollars, and in 2025 – at 34 billion dollars. According to Poroshenko, in Ukraine “the army is not a priority.”
The problem lies, in particular, in the fact that the country’s priority is “disabled prosecutors, increased funding for the supervisory boards of state-owned companies, security forces and corrupt reimbursements with the purchase of votes,” RBC quotes the former president .
