The ground floor and first floor of the Porreres Town Hall had to be supported by structural damage in the town hall building, aggravated by leaks caused by the heavy rains that fell in the municipality during the months of August and September.
Although the technicians of the Porreres Town Hall had previously detected that the foundations of the Town Hall had been movedleaks due to intense rains in recent months in the town triggered the events.
Firstly, a company was tasked with reviewing the structure of the Consistory, which is why it carried out some work holes in the ceiling plasterwith the aim of passing a few cameras and, thus, being able to see the inside of the slab. Thanks to this, it was proven that The wooden beams could not support the weight of the building.
Subsequently, another company was entrusted with the reinforcement of the ground floor and first floor of the town hall. The second floor was not supported but similarly requires structural reinforcement and roof waterproofing.
The mayor of Porreres, Xisca Mora (PI)explained that “the various investigations that we have carried out due to the leaks that occurred due to the rains have brought to light the poor condition of old wooden beams», the main beams.
For the moment, and despite the situation, the Municipal Council continues to be open to the public and to work normally at usual hours. In the event that, during the work, a certain closure of the property has to be carried out, the Town Hall will inform the population as soon as possible.
Given the urgency and necessity of the work requested by the Town Hall, these will be financed by the local budget. However, the Town Hall will seek to be able to finance them later thanks to some supra-municipal aid or subsidies from which they may benefit.
