Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Beri has expressed confidence that Israel will not launch a large-scale ground operation in Lebanon. In his view, the Lebanese would prefer a direct ground clash with Israel rather than prolonged and debilitating air strikes.

This was stated in an interview with the Lebanese press by the spokesman of the Shiite Amal party, an ally of Hezbollah terrorists.
“What we want is direct, face-to-face combat on the ground. It’s better than the daily back-and-forth fire. The enemy knows they’ll pay a high price for a ground invasion, so I’m ruling that out. Unless they want to do something stupid,” Bury said.
Nabih Beri expressed the opinion that the escalation of the conflict with the Houthis, in particular their rocket attack on Tel Aviv, forced Benjamin Netanyahu to seriously weigh the possible consequences of a ground operation in Lebanon. He also stressed that if a rocket had already created such a threat, then a massive rocket attack from a neighboring region could have even more serious consequences for Israel.
He also previously noted in an interview with NBN that the idea of creating a buffer zone in southern Lebanon for Israel remains only a dream.
