PP communities clash with Health over the flu control plan, which remains in the air

The plan proposed by the Ministry of Health to control influenza through the gradual use of masks depending on the worsening of transmission remained unresolved. The Public Health Commission in which the document was to be approved, where the general directors of all the territories were present, ended without agreement, as confirmed by the Secretary of State for Health, Javier Padilla. “The autonomous communities of the PP stop the document drawn up by their own technicians to have for the first time a common action plan against the epidemic of respiratory virus”, writes the number two of the Ministry in X.

The document – written by technicians from all administrations – proposed four risk scenarios, from 0 to 3, with progressive application of mask wearing. In fact, it was approved during the technical presentation – a lower level – a week ago. However, during Thursday’s meeting, disagreements were brought to the table, which ended up postponing the vote due to no agreement. The ministry will convene a new meeting in a few days and will continue studying the text with the amendments sent by the communities.

The general director of Public Health of the Community of Madrid, Elena Andradas, assured that her region, governed by the Popular Party, “is not the only one that does not agree with the document.” His argument is that “it suffers from a lack of technical judgment and some improvisation.” This is the main reason given by the communities to explain their disagreement: the fact that the document is “immature”. Castilla y León also actively expressed its rejection, as did the Canary Islands, according to sources present at the meeting.

The Madrid representative also alluded, in press statements before the meeting was over, that “there is no comparable information between the communities that would allow us to make a risk assessment for implement measures simultaneously.”
