The councilor of Servizos of the municipality of Ribadavia (Ourense), Juan Carlos Fernández, of the Popular Party, was arrested by the Civil Guard and subjected to a speedy trial, accused of the crime of gender violence. After the hearing, he was released with charges and a restraining order from his partner.
Fernández, also responsible for Parks and Gardens, was number 6 on the popular list of 28M, a candidacy led by another Fernández, César, who obtained seven councilors and an absolute majority, which returned the government of this municipality of 5,000 inhabitants to the PP. inhabitants, capital of the O Ribeiro region.
In 2021, Fernández had already been sworn in as a minority mayor and removed from office two years later due to a motion of censure by the PSOE and Ribeiro en Común.
