PP does not congratulate Almodóvar on its networks after the historic feat of Spanish cinema

Pedro Almodóvar made history this Saturday by winning the Golden Lion for a Spanish film with The next piece. However, this feat does not seem to have been enough to earn the congratulations of the Popular Party. The Twitter account of the match omitted any mention of the director of La Mancha while celebrating each medal of the Spanish delegation at the Paralympic Games.

On the other hand, in the past they have congratulated other films in different awards: Javier Fesser for being chosen to represent Spain at the Oscars with Champions And to Alberto Mielgo and Leo Sánchez after winning the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film with The windshield wiper“This proves, once again, that Marca España’s talent has no borders,” they wrote in a Twitter post at the time.

We also did not get to see the congratulations of José Luis Martínez Almeida, mayor of Madrid, a city that holds a very important place in the director’s filmography. Almeida took the time to congratulate the winner of the cycling tour, Primoz Roglic, the second, Ben O’Connor, and the Spaniard Enric Mas, third.

On the other hand, the Councilor responsible for Culture at the Madrid City Council, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, congratulated Almodóvar and the producer of the film, El Deseo. “It is the first time that a Spanish production has won the Golden Lion and, since Buñuel, no Spanish director has won this award. Congratulations to Pedro Almodóvar and the entire team,” he celebrated.

In addition to the lack of congratulations to Almodóvar for his achievement for Spanish cinema, the royal family also added that, although they are happy with all the medals of the Paralympic Games, they do not have space on their social networks for the director of La Mancha.

The former councilor of Valladolid, Carlos Paramio, currently advisor to Mañueco in the presidential cabinet of the Junta de Castilla y León, deserves a separate chapter. “Guess [sic] “Who is not going to see Almodóvar’s latest film?” he wrote, accompanying it with an icon of a raised hand.

After winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, Almodóvar repeated his right-wing darts and explained that his film This is a “response to the hate speech we hear in Spain.” “It is a film in favor of absolute solidarity, of deep empathy. The discourse that is taking place in Europe against immigration, against unaccompanied children, treating them as if they were criminals, as if they were invaders, is grotesque. I did not write the film with this intention, but at the moment I think it is a response to all these negative things. There is a great Spain in which I feel integrated and that is not there because of the work of these discourses. There should even be a sanction once it is known that they are hoaxes, because they put a strain on the society in which we live. And we do not deserve it,” he concluded.
