The parliamentary groups PSOE, PP, Sumar and Junts have reached an agreement to approve the law for the comprehensive care of people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The bill, finalized tonight after months of negotiations between the groups, provides for continued 24-hour specialized care for people with advanced ALS.
The agreed text also includes the establishment of a structure for research into ALS, the commitment to help people with electrodependence and vulnerable consumers or specific training for professionals, as well as the necessary financial provisions.
After this agreement, he should be able to present the text next week in committee, according to parliamentary sources informed by EFE.
The bill “starts from the consensus” of the proposals prepared by these four parties, which were built, in turn, on the basis of a proposal prepared by the group of people concerned ConELA. This proposal proposes a series of legislative changes aimed at guaranteeing the best quality of life, through the streamlining of administrative procedures for the recognition of disability and dependency in people with serious neurological processes who meet a series of criteria.
The goal of the groups is to approve the standard in the plenary session of Congress in October and take it to the Senate, where it will be definitively approved thanks to the large majority of support it would have, as expected.
