The door to big deals has never been completely closed. The PP’s spokesman in the Congress of Deputies, Miguel Telladoconfirmed on Tuesday the existence of a preliminary agreement with the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Angel Victor Torresand the Canarian president, Fernando Clavijoto establish the conditions for the distribution of migrants arriving irregularly on the islands. The agreement was negotiated on August 12 at a meeting in Madrid.
The three-way proposal, which the PP did not view with a negative eye, meant establishing that the standardised reception of the centres for minors corresponded to the autonomous communities. When the centres will exceed 100% of their capacity and up to 150%, the autonomous communities would take care of these minors “making efforts and with the resources of the General Administration of the State.”
Finally, when the attention capacity of the autonomies exceeds 150%, it would be the state that would take charge miners directly, with its own facilities and resources.
Since then, Tellado said, communication with Minister Torres has continued to be fluid, but they have not exchanged any documents. “They are not moving,” denounced the popular spokesman, who is still waiting for the Government to provide him with documents.
“We demand a serious immigration policy from the Spanish government, there has not been one in the last six years and today communities like the Canary Islands, cities like Ceuta, provinces like Almeria or regions like Murcia are directly suffering from a migratory avalanche that the government refuses to recognize,” the spokesperson retorted.
