The People’s Party A motion is registered in the Senate to debate the disapproval of the head of the Transport portfolio, Óscar Puente, for his management at the head of the ministry. In the letter that ABC has had access to, the most popular express that Puente should not continue to lead the railway network after a summer marked by “constant incidents” in this service. Thus, the PP will ask the Upper House, in which it has a majority, to approve this motion to urge the Executive to dismiss the minister.

At the end of August, the PP had already requested an extraordinary appearance by Puente to report on the measures it was going to take to alleviate a summer marked by “railway chaos”, “multiple incidents” and “complaints from users”. During this appearance, the head of Transport assured that “the train is living its best moment in Spain”. Statements that he reiterated last week in Congress after a question from Feijóo, statements made a few days before the Atocha station was paralyzed by an incident that caused the delay of several high-speed trains, which were arriving or leaving the Madrid terminal.

This is why the popular people reproach the minister for “lack of sensitivity and absolute lack of respect towards the complaints of users” for the “chaos in the railway services experienced this summer”, in addition to “the inability to resolve the countless and continuous incidents”.

The PP spokesperson in the Senate, Alicia García, who signed the letter, said in statements to ABC that: “Oscar Puente has derailed his management, he is in a dead end with nothing to offer but his contempt and his frankness; that is why we are going to ask the PP for its disapproval in the next plenary session of the Senate next week.
