Yolanda Bel, secretary general of the Ceuta Popular Party, presented her resignation in a surprise move on Tuesday afternoon. She was accompanied by the regional president, Juan Vivas, who said he did not share the decision, which she has repeatedly assured she had taken for personal reasons: “Do not look for greater duplicity, you will not find it,” he added, speaking to the media.
Bel had been in office for twelve years. Nine years ago, in 2015, he left his responsibilities within the municipality, retaining only his organic functions within the party. A few months ago, as he recalled in his farewell speech, he had already expressed doubts about his continuity at the head of the PP of Ceuta. His departure is now finalized for “personal reasons” that require his “attention and dedication.”
Vivas did not spare his praise for his figure, said he respected the decision and hoped it was just a “see you later”, something that, although not directly, Bel seemed to rule out, showing himself certain that in the match, “There are more members in the city, there are many people willing” to take on the challenge.
The regional president then acknowledged that he already had “an idea in mind”, but refused to move it forward. “If possible, this week we will communicate it after the obligatory meeting of the Committee”, he concluded.
