President of KOBIA: “The signed documents will support the facilitation of the green transition of SMEs”

Within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, documents on promoting the green transition and SME cooperation were signed today in this field.

Oku.Az reports that after the signing ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KOBIA, Orkhan Mammadov, shared his thoughts:

“The green transition of SMEs promotes sustainable development by increasing their competitiveness and access to new markets. We believe that the “Declaration of the Baku Coalition for the Green Climate Transition of SMEs” prepared on the initiative of KOBIA will facilitate the green transition of SMEs globally, will eventually contribute to the formation of a greener future. The support of ITC and SEBRAE is especially important. The tripartite cooperation established in connection with the implementation of the corresponding declaration will also enable SMEs of the respective organizations. benefit from the green transition The signing of the three documents, which will support the facilitation of the process, within the framework of COP29 is particularly important, and this once again demonstrates Azerbaijan’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Pamela Cohamilton, executive director of the International Trade Center, said small businesses are the backbone of most economies and a key part of the global supply chain:

“This is why SME activity is important in the fight against climate change. Together with KOBIA and SEBRAE, we hope to highlight the perspectives and challenges of small businesses in developing countries in the context of climate, and support them to that can manage the green transition.”

Desio Lima, president of SEBRAE, said that small businesses are important to develop opportunities not only in Brazil, but throughout the world:

“In 2023, eight out of ten jobs created in Brazil will be created by micro and small businesses. This year, Brazil ranked second in the world in terms of the volume of foreign investments attracted, which shows that our economy is developing correctly , innovation, sustainability and inclusion are always relevant topics. The green transition can only occur with the participation of small businesses in the value chain.
