“We are very happy to be in Azerbaijan to participate in COP29. I want to congratulate Azerbaijan for organizing the COP this year; the event is very well organized. This summit coincides with a particularly critical period.”
These words were spoken by the President of the Republic of Montenegro, Yakov Milatovich, in his statement to AZERTAC.
He said UN agencies have recently released data showing that global temperatures are rising and that 2024 is on track to become the hottest year on record:
“This data is, as you know, extremely worrying in the context of global warming, especially in relation to carbon emissions. As a global community, we must all act together, especially to comply with the 2015 Paris Agreement, and unite everyone our efforts to fight climate change.”
He then noted that climate change is perhaps one of the biggest challenges facing the world today and, in fact, it is a global problem that can only be solved through collective efforts.
“For this reason, it is important to bring together world leaders each year and reaffirm our shared commitments. As we know, the largest countries in the world are also the largest carbon emitters. All countries, including Montenegro and Azerbaijan, show their commitment in “Every year we meet not only to share what we have achieved, but also to renew and strengthen our joint agenda to solve the world’s most pressing problem,” Yakov Milatovich emphasized.
