From the point of view of gender equality in access to relevant positions of responsibility in the public sphere, last week we witnessed an extraordinary event because it was new and another ordinary event because it was repeated. I am referring, of course, to the appointments of the President of the CGPJ and the TS – welcome, Mrs Perelló Doménech – and the Governor of the Bank of Spain – another man.
The election of the President of the CGPJ and the TS by the CGPJ itself is, as I say, an extraordinary event for two reasons: it was chosen without the direct intervention of the political parties – or so it seems – and also, it is the first time that a woman has reached a position, something that has been highlighted and rightly emphasized in recent days.
