The helicopter carrying Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa crashed on Sunday, with no one on board and no one killed, a local television channel reported, citing a statement by the country’s Information Minister Jenfan Muswere.
The helicopter crashed on Sunday shortly after Zimbabwe’s president took part in celebrations for a local holiday, ZBC reported.
“The helicopter that was supposed to transport President Mnangagwa crashed due to a technical fault, but the president was not on board… There were crew members on board the helicopter, but no one was killed,” – says a message on the channel’s website.
As noted by the Minister, the Zimbabwe Civil Aviation Authority has launched an investigation into the incident and will issue a statement on the matter.
