This shift redirects Iran’s religious identity, but also makes Persia an important participant in the golden age of Islam.
Previously, Sunnit dominated in Iran, why is the majority now?
1. The growth of Islam and the conquest of Persia
Launch The city of Islam, After the death of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in 632, Muslims began to develop rapidly from the Arabian Peninsula. They simultaneously launched an attack on the Roman Empire and Persia, the two largest forces at that time.
While the Roman Empire managed to survive for more than 800 years, the Persian empire fell much faster. The recent plague destroyed Persia, weakening the empire. After only two large battle, the Persian kingdom collapsed, and over the next 50 years the remaining Persian region was absorbed in the Muslim caliphate.

2. Slow transition to Islam
Despite the fact that they were under Muslim control, the Persian people at first basically did not change. The structure of the government is preserved, and the culture and language of the Persian language continue to develop.
Most of the Persians defended the trust of their Zoroaster for several centuries, even when Muslim missionaries began to slowly change the population. People who first turned to Islam were masters and workers who felt an accelerated community of Zoroaster.
Over time, many Persians find the similarity between their beliefs and Islam, which leads to gradual changes in religion. Persia took about 300 years to become a country with the Muslim majority.
3. Persian contribution to the Golden Age of Islam
When Persia accepted Islam, the country made a significant contribution to the Islamic world. The Persians, with their inheritance, rich science, philosophy, mathematics and medicine, became important figures in the golden age of Islam.
Many of the most famous scientists in Islamic history, such as Abu Hanifa, Imam Bukhari and Muslim imam, are descendants of Persian. Persia is the center of science, with significant resources that are devoted to the transfer of ancient texts and the construction of wide libraries, especially in the capital of Baghdad.
