Robinson McClellan, curator of the Morgan Library and Museum in New York, discovered the notes to a previously unknown work (waltz) by composer Frederic Chopin in the Madison Avenue institution’s collection.
Oku.Az It is reported with reference to “The New York Times.”
According to information, he found a sheet of music yellowed by time, composed of 24 musical measures (48 with repetition). At the top of the work is written the surname of one of the most successful composers of the 19th century.
Since Chopin’s line was so well known, McClellan decided to verify the artifact’s authenticity. The analysis of the paper and ink, as well as the study of the line and musical style of the composition, confirmed that the museum houses a forgotten waltz by a famous Polish musician.
Historians have not conducted such searches for more than half a century. According to experts, Chopin wrote the found waltz between 1830 and 1835, when he was in his early 20s.
According to musicologists, the work is complete. When played, it lasts about 80 seconds, much shorter than Chopin’s previous waltzes.
