Prison for man who strangled his wife in Palma hospital room

The National Police of Palma arrested a 65-year-old Spaniard, sentenced to prison, for strangling his wife in a hospital room in which she is admitted.

As reported by the Higher General Staff in a press release, the events occurred last Saturday, around 7:30 p.m., in a hospital in Palma.

A health worker entered one of the rooms where a woman with health problems was admitted to administer her medication. He then surprised her husband picking up the woman. by the neck squeezing tightly.

The health worker came to the woman’s aid as the man left the room. The security services were therefore alerted, but they were unable to locate him.

The woman was very upset, telling National Police officers who came to the scene that her husband had tried to strangle her by grabbing her behind the neck, leaving her out of breath, until he was caught by paramedics. The woman added that on several occasions her husband had threatened her.

Agents from the Citizen Assistance Group of the National Police carried out searches to locate the husband and went to the home and places he frequented.

A patrol located the man on a street near the house, where he was arrested as an alleged perpetrator of the crime of attempted homicide. The Families and Women Unit (UFAM) of the National Police took charge of the investigations. He collected statements from the victim, the health worker and the victim’s family circle.

For his part, the health worker confirmed what had been said to the patrol and explained that on several occasions I heard the man shouting and insulting the woman so he was more attentive and attentive than usual when the husband was in the room.

Furthermore, after fleeing the room, the man returned a second time, although he was surprised by the center agent, who notified the security services.

Investigators also learned that for some time the woman had been the subject of violence physical and psychological abuse and that he suffered humiliation, insults and physical attacks, without ever filing a complaint. The detainee was presented to court in the afternoon where his pre-trial detention was ordered.
