The events occurred this weekend at midnight, on Ronda Street, in the old town of Bilbao. There, some tourists were returning to their accommodation with obvious signs of drunkenness. The victim’s vulnerability did not go unnoticed by the thieves. The attackers lunged at the victim and hit him on the ground.
At that moment, as shown in the video recorded by an anonymous citizen who was passing through the area, they tackled the victim to the ground and, while they were strangling him, they began to completely rob him. The thieves even realize that someone is recording them. They make a gesture of stopping, but continue the robbery without worrying about the presence of witnesses.

For several interminable minutes, the thieves repeatedly pull his neck until they tear off a chain, they take his watch, his cell phone, his wallet and any valuables they can find. Then they fled.
They didn’t get very far. Alerted by witnesses, the Bilbao municipal police arrested the thieves near the scene of the violent theft. Recognized thanks to the images of citizens who recorded their faces and clothing, the third attacker was arrested a few hours later.
These are three men, criminals aged 18, 29 and 36, two of whom have already criminal record for similar events. The three entered prison on Tuesday.
