The Civil Guard arrested him last Saturday in the penitentiary facilities and a court is already investigating the facts for an alleged crime of corruption.
The Court of Instruction 8 of Córdoba is investigating a prison official for corruption offense what he could have done by facilitating exit permit to detainees in exchange for different amounts money at the Alcolea Correctional Center, as ABC judicial sources informed.
Although the investigation has been open for some time by the court, Civil Guard agents arrested this official on Saturday evening in the court premises. Prison center of Alcolea and it was this Monday that he appeared in court on guard duty, as sources from the Army Institute confirmed to ABC.
The investigating judge did not provide information on the investigation against this public prison official while the case continues. Initial information indicates that he is head of department, so among his tasks are those of process these permits and the prison benefits from its own treatment committee.
The complaint which opened this investigation, in which the Córdoba public prosecutor’s office is participating, came from the prisoners themselves who had submitted several letters to the management of the penitentiary center denouncing corrupt practices like those described and at the same time the existence of a large number of cell phones -which are prohibited- in prisons, so they indicated, as expected, that there would be a prison official behind them.
The Penitentiary Institutions confirmed to ABC that, for the moment, he has been dismissed from his duties pending further measures that may arise from these events.
