It has been remarkable to see how the extreme right has managed to place immigration as the number one problem for the citizens of this country. A classic: for decades, and seasons with more intensity, the “concerns” of the Spanish coincide with the press coverage and headlines of the audiovisual media. In this case, it is part of the social rise of the extreme right for whom it is an ideological problem of primary importance and the constant promotion it receives in the media that continue to whitewash fascism. Because, without a doubt, immigration is not, by far, the main problem of the Spanish people.
The survey as a whole is even more striking if we look at it slowly. Thanks to the CIS barometers, you can follow the evolution of Spanish society and its ups and downs due to external events and influences. “The role of the media and networks: disinformation, manipulation and dissemination of hoaxes”, instruments by which they largely decide their opinion, only 1.1% of respondents consider it their first problem and 2.4% of the total.
