The Iustitia Europa party, which is making the accusation in the so-called Koldo caseasked National Court Judge Ismael Moreno to indict former minister José Luis Ábalos.
This judicial case investigates the alleged collection of commissions in several public contracts awarded to the company Soluciones de Gestión SL. Recently, the magistrate ordered the incorporation into the summary of the case of the report containing the conclusions of the internal audit commissioned by the current minister Óscar Puente, successor to Ábalos, on the rewards signed by him to said company.
Based on the said document, Iustitia Europa requests the indictment of the former minister. In reality, the Supreme Court is the only one that can summon Ábalos, who is still a deputy in Congress and, as such, is empowered to declare that he is under investigation.
“Ábalos, as one of the members of the Government, Minister of Transport [mientras sucedieron los hechos investigados]played an important role during this period. Investigations and the recent audit reveal links between him and the mask procurement contracts,” says Iustitia Europa.
“There are indications and statements that point to a possible participation of Mr. José Luis Ábalos in the management of mask purchase contracts, which would have caused economic damage to the public treasury, as well as an alleged favorable treatment towards certain companies and commission agents,” he adds in a writing to which EL ESPAÑOL had access.
