The Ministry of Defense states that the process of suspension of the license of an Israeli company for production in Spain has begun 168 missile systems against the SPIKE LR2 car intended for the army equipment.
Since the SER network has advanced and confirmed Eldiario.es, the ministry initiated this contract, which was concluded on November 23, 2023 in the amount of about 285 million euros for Pap-Tecnos, the Spanish subsidiary of the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense.
Until now, the government has defended this purchase process, saying that it was “irrevocable” material. Sources of defense consulted with this newspaper also indicate that the process of recalling the license awarded to the Israeli Elbiti to acquire a cream shipping system.
Then the defense explained that the obsolescence of the systems used so far forced them to replace them with more modern ones, such as those that already work in many armies of the allied countries, and that the Israeli company was the only technically trained qualified for the development of these fifth generation missiles.
The launch of the review process can take time, they still do not have a substitute, and both projects follow their course.
The ministry states that this is part of the process of the progressive separation of the Israeli weapon industry declared by the State Secret Secretary of Defense last Friday. Nevertheless, at the moment, other purchase contracts are supported, such as what was closed in April 2024 with the State Public Company Rafael, planned for 2027, to acquire designers of POD for Air Combat, about which Eldiario was reported on Monday.
Contracts on Silam Lanfacoheates and Spike are two of the nine contracts for the purchase, but not yet formalized by Israeli or subsidiaries after October 7, 2023. From this date until April 2025, the Spanish government awarded or formalized 46 contracts for the purchase with Israeli companies, subsidiaries or mediators.
