The president of the Provincial Delegation of Valencia, Vicent Mompó, explained that the intervention aims “ensure health spaces rendered unusable due to mud and avoid health problems“.
This action will be carried out through a emergency contract signed by the provincial entity with different companies specialized in this type of cleaning.
After the meeting held last Friday at the provincial headquarters with 60 mayors and councilors of the municipalities concerned, President Mompó underlines that the Provincial Council “It is the closest institution to cities and their neighbors.
“We brought together local officials to inform them of all the actions that the different administrations are carrying out with a view to reconstruction, and above all to continue listening to your needsas we have done since the day this nightmare began,” the president stressed.
“We left the meeting with two priorities in which the persons concerned have agreed: the mud extractionto which we have already responded despite our lack of powers; And vehicle removal accidents on the streets, another complex issue that other administrations must resolve definitively, but in which we collaborate with the creation of fields far from urban centers”, said Mompó himself.
Municipalities
The works were launched in Picanya by the company FCC and will extend to Aldaïa, Paiporta and Massanassa (FACSA); Alfafar and Llocnou of the Crown (VILOR); Benetússer and Sedavi (BECSA); Alba (Romefer); And Catarroja (Dragados/FCC), all from L’Horta Sud; And Algemesi (Guerola) in the Ribera Alta.
Regarding the deadlines for undertaking the cleaning, Mompó stressed that “cannot be evaluated until the work progresses and workers check the degree of damage to each of the 661 garages and basements included in this first emergency list.
Furthermore, regarding the actions of the insurersthe president of the Provincial Council regrets that “do not respond to calls from concerned neighborsat a time of great difficulty where they must assume their responsibilities and contribute to ensuring that the solution arrives in the most agile way possible.
The tasks, with teams of 30 people per districtwill consist of the extraction of stagnant water; repairing domestic wastewater downspouts with obvious breaks or leaks; the evacuation of sludge with the means required in each case.
In addition, vehicle identification and removal will also be carried out, if appropriate permits are available; the extraction of all types of waste present on the site, including storage rooms and elevator shafts; and clean and disinfect the site.
