A 22-year-old man was stabbed last Sunday in the Muneta city during the patronal festivities during a fight in which the young man found himself in a serious condition.
Thus, the president of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Estella-Lizarra decreed provisional arrest without bail for the perpetrator of the knife attack who also took an air rifle and returned to the scene with it intention to shoot.
The author is accused of crime of attempted homicideoffence of possession of weapons, offence of threats and minor offence of abuse, during the events which occurred on 8 September at around 6 a.m.
The Provincial Police conducted an investigation at the detainee’s home and found 53 weapons such as the knife he used to stab the victim or the weapon he later retrieved with the intention of using it. The person investigated does not have a gun license and not all of them are registered in his name.
The injured young man is still admitted to the ICU of the University Hospital of Navarra with a life-threatening chest injury and the outcome is pending.
The judge’s order states that the person under investigation and a friend were in the Muneta Square when they began talking to the victim and his friends. At one point, the accused punched one of the injured man’s friends and hit him with a cake.
At that moment it started a fight between the two groupswhich took place behind the tent set up for the city’s festivities. It was then that the suspect allegedly “pulled out a knife and stuck it in the victim’s chest, with the intention of ending his life.”
Witnesses said they saw the injured man with a big blood stain on chestwhich led them to transfer him to the García Orcoyen hospital in Estella.
Immediately afterwards, according to the judge, “there are indications that the prisoner went to his home, where he had various weapons, and chose from all of them a suitable one to attack the victim again, taking an air rifle, returning to the place and, bsearch for the injured man with the intention of shooting him and pointing the gun at other people who were there.
Actually He fired several shots in the air until his friend had him arrested and decided to take him to the hospital. During the transfer to the hospital, the investigator told his friend that “he had come out of his mother’s house covered in blood” and that he had “stung” the victim, then said that it was “a joke”.
The order also decrees the prohibition on the perpetrator from approaching within 500 metres of the victimyour home, place of work, study or places you frequent.
