PSC pays salaries of two Commons advisers to Parliament

The PSC parliamentary group pays the salaries of two Commons councilors in Parliament. As reported by the newspaper Ara and the Catalan Press Agency (ACN), the two parties agreed on this point during the negotiations for the configuration of the Council of Parliament at the start of the legislature.

According to the Official Journal of the Parliament of Catalonia (BOPC) of July 17, the socialists proposed the appointment of two councilors (technically for their parliamentary group) linked to the Comuns. Both parties agreed that these advisors be transferred to the Commons, which is why the person to whom they lend their services is the parliamentary group chaired by Jéssica Albiach.

As confirmed by the two parliamentary groups, this agreement was concluded during negotiations in the parliamentary committee. Sources from the groups stressed that this agreement does not contradict the economic standards of Parliament and add that there are precedents in other institutions where similar cases have occurred, such as the Congress of Deputies. The same sources emphasize that this situation does not entail any additional costs for the Catalan Chamber.

Comuns sources also guaranteed that these two councilors did not endanger their political independence, even if formally the person who proposed the councilors is the PSC, and although the funds to pay their salaries also come from the resources reserved for Parliament socialist group.
