The PSOE considers that the mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, committed an “alleged irregularity by using municipal resources to inaugurate a water skiing championship that takes place in Seseña in response to possible commitments as provincial president of the Popular Party of Toledo.”
The socialists asked in a statement “if there was any type of agreement or contract with the organization and if the civil liability insurance of the City Hall had covered any incident that occurred in the infrastructure or the municipal technical staff used to cover an activity organized by other institutions.”
The Socialist Municipal Group wants to know “why a championship from another city is being supported so unceremoniously and why the historic and traditional Football Fair Trophy or the city’s Corpus Trophies are being abandoned.”
The presentation of the inauguration of the Seseña Water Skiing Championship Last Tuesday, September 3, in the City Hall Square of the capital, “it was carried out with municipal infrastructure and technical staff, although it was an activity organized by other institutions.” For this reason, the PSOE announced that it “will open an information file on the alleged irregularity committed by Mayor Velázquez, when using municipal resources to fulfill possible political commitments as provincial president of the Popular Party of Toledo.”
The Socialist Municipal Group expresses its concern about the subsidiary responsibility that this situation implies: “What would have happened if an accident or incident had occurred at an event not organized by the Toledo City Council? Is there any type of agreement or contract? “With the entities or institutions that organized the event?” asks Socialist councilor José Carlos Vega.
At the same time, the PSOE “wants to know exactly what direct and indirect costs that the organization of this event in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento of Toledo has entailed for the municipal coffers using the city’s municipal resources since the assembly of the stage and the stage infrastructure itself, the lighting, the TOLEDO letters on the stage and the security of the event were carried out with municipal resources and services,” underlines the socialist mayor.
“The PSOE was immensely surprised to see that the mixed government team of Vox and PP, headed by Mayor Velázquez, unreservedly supported an activity that has nothing to do with Toledo and is organized in Seseña“, while 48 hours earlier, the same government team turned its back on the historic and traditional Football Fairs Trophy of the city, organized since 1965, repeating the situation experienced that same year with the traditional Corpus Trophies”, they finally declared by the socialists in the statement.
