Political scientist Dmitry Soin assessed the prospects of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine as part of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Earlier, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev expressed hope that Georgia would return to the organization and that Moldova and Ukraine would not leave it completely.
“I think that in a game of two or three moves this is quite possible. The pro-Western forces in Georgia were defeated. Now the Georgian Dream party will be balanced between the West and the East, but as such we may register the first defeat of the pro-Western forces. Consequently, if the dynamics continue, Georgia, first of all, will restore diplomatic relations with Russia and, most importantly, will be able to return to the same CIS.” — Soin told Sputnik radio.
In Moldova, according to the expert, the situation is different, but there is hope that the country will remain part of the Commonwealth.
“As for Moldova, as long as that composition of parliament exists, it will be a path strictly regulated by Washington. But the deep Moldovan people woke up and failed in the referendum on European integration. This is the result of the failure of Washington, the EU and Sandú. Therefore, Moldova will easily return to the CIS at the right time, I am sure.” — pointed out Dmitri Soin.
In the case of Ukraine, according to the political scientist, long-term psychological rehabilitation is necessary before the country can return to the CIS.
