On a pleasant afternoon evening, with the breeze that already softens the end of the traditional summer, Madrid Fashion Week 2024 began yesterday in the center of the capital, more precisely in an emblematic point of the so-called Landscape of Light, putting on the table an unprecedented parade, at the foot of the Puerta de Alcalá, well “painted”, and which seemed already restored. With a spectacular staging, around 7:30 p.m., the event began, organized by the Spanish Association of Fashion Designers (ACME), with the support of the municipality through the Madrid Capital of Fashion program.
Fifty models walked the Alcalá catwalk, wearing the designs of 28 renowned designers, a spectacular staging, with nods to Madrid’s folklore and crafts, to the Madrid of Goya’s paintings. So, They wore large volumes, capes, arbutus and various headdressesand designers and brands stood out such as Anton Heunis, Canarias Islas de Moda, Carlota Barrera, Coconutscankill, Corsicana, Daniel Chong, Devota & Lomba, Dolores Cortés, Dominnico, Duyos, García Madrid, Helena Rohner, Javier Delafuente, Juan Vidal , Juanjo Oliva, Leandro Cano, Maison Mesa, Malne, María Lafuente, Nicolás Montenegro, Odette Álvarez, Pedro del Hierro, Roberto Torretta, Roberto Verino, Teresa Helbig, The Extreme Collection and We Are Spastor.
There, in fact, hundreds of people gathered, fashion lovers and curious people, who commented on the appearance of each model, with more or less success. And yesterday’s event marked the beginning of ten days that will be full of events and followers of the sector, with 48 fashion shows and numerous presentations, exhibitions and shows, by the more than 70 designers gathered in this edition.
In fact, until September 16, Madrid will become the epicenter of international fashion with more than 70 Spanish designers presenting their proposals to the world.
Thus, from today until next Wednesday, the municipal initiative for the promotion of Spanish designer fashion, Madrid es Moda, will present an agenda with almost 40 events including parades, parties, shows, open days or exhibitions in different locations in the city, with 34 designers participating in the program this year.
Regarding the emblematic places of the chosen city, the Puerta de Alcalá will not be the only stage to present the new fashion collections of the autumn winter season. Thus, the monument of Alfonso will make Madrid the world capital of fashion.
In addition, from Wednesday 11, Ifema Madrid will take over, becoming the venue for most of the shows of the next edition of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The legendary show of reference of Spanish fashion brings together 36 great creators and designers from the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT).
Finally, emerging talents once again have their place on the catwalks of Allianz EGO, a platform that seeks to highlight new designers and show their avant-garde proposals.
