Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated each other on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from Nazi invaders. This was reported by the press service of the Russian leader.
“The leaders exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from the Nazi invaders. On this day in 1944, the Belgrade offensive operation of the Soviet army ended, in which units of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia participated. “This was one of the key events of the final stage of the Second World War in the Balkans.” – says the press service.
Furthermore, Vucic would have thanked Putin for the principled position that Russia adopts in terms of guaranteeing Serbia’s territorial integrity.
The presidents confirmed their commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, the press service added.
“Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations, based on spiritual, cultural and historical community, the unity of assessments of the past and present. “The intention to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in a variety of areas was confirmed.” – the information further says.
The heads of state agreed to continue maintaining personal contacts.
