Russia’s parliament has banned women from expressing their decision not to have children. He did it with a law which provides for fines ranging from 4,000 euros in the case of individuals and 50,000 euros for businesses. Likewise, in the event that he is a foreigner, he will be deported. Women will not be able to express their desire in casual conversation, in a book or in a film. There are only three exceptions to the exemption from these sanctions: religious, medical reasons or in cases of rape.
“Many of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers had eight or more children,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said, part of the narrative he aims to establish to encourage rising birth rates. In fact, the rule approved in recent hours provides for the prohibition and limitation of “the distribution of destructive content that promotes refusal to have children”.
In this way, the Kremlin will have the authorization to continue the advertisement in which no children are present; the content published in social networks; the information in mediaas well as the films and books.
The Russian executive has likened this decision to pedophilia and is part of the list of persecuted groups, including the LGTBIQ+ movement. “We must understand that “There will be no country without children.”said Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. Furthermore, the new decision bans the adoption of Russian minors in countries that allow gender transitionas is the case in Spain.
