Putin commented on Erdogan’s remarks about the ownership of Crimea

Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on Turkish President Recep Erdogan’s statement on the need to return Crimea to Ukraine, as expressed at the Crimean Platform summit. According to him, the issue of Crimea’s territorial affiliation is one of those issues on which Russia and Turkey have “differences” and their positions are completely opposite.

Peskov stressed that despite these differences, Moscow continues to actively explain its point of view and hopes that over time Ankara will better understand Russia’s position and, perhaps, agree with the arguments. He noted that this disagreement does not interfere with the development of cooperation between the two countries, which continue to actively cooperate on many other issues.

Peskov also commented on speculation that Erdogan’s statement could be associated with an attempt to ease the pressure of sanctions by the United States. He stressed that Washington openly puts pressure on Turkey, does not hesitate to use threats, but at the same time Turkey remains faithful to its national interests, including in the matter of cooperation with Russia.

Earlier, at the Crimean Platform summit, Erdogan said that the return of Crimea to Ukraine is necessary from the point of view of international law. Turkey, as before, does not recognise Russian sovereignty over Crimea and Sevastopol.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Putin was threatening the United States and Britain with war.

Kremlin dictator Putin has issued an ultimatum to the United States and the United Kingdom.
