“Putin invited the current President of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the press service of the Abkhaz leader.” – the agency said in a statement.
EADaily reported that opposition forces that occupied the presidential administration building in Sukhum on November 15 were demanding Bzhania’s early resignation due to disagreement with his policy of allowing foreign companies to enter the republic. Bzhania went to her family’s village, Tamysh, in the Ochamchira district, and from there she tries to govern the country. Bzhania agreed to resign on the condition that the acting vice president will become president before the elections Badra Gunbaand he himself will run again. Opposition forces agreed, but want the country’s prime minister to be replaced, as well as the heads of the security forces. They fear that before the elections the authorities could still sign documents that they oppose.
According to the law, the next presidential elections should be held in early spring 2025.
