After Donald Trump’s victory in the US elections, as Dmitry Medvedev noted, “an alarming trend of exacerbation has emerged in Western political circles.”
Medvedev wrote about this on his official Telegram page.
According to him, the leaders of European countries began to actively try to bring the conflict with Russia to an irreversible stage. In this context, Medvedev noted that several European politicians openly declare their support for Ukraine even in the case of a reduction in US support, as one of the French representatives did recently. In addition, according to Medvedev, some NATO representatives are increasingly discussing intensifying actions against Russia.
The candidate for the post of German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, in turn, announced an ultimatum to Moscow, demanding the termination of the SVO, threatening a possible transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. According to Medvedev, such statements are rather of a pre-election nature and cannot radically change the course of hostilities.
However, the supply of missiles could significantly increase the risk of escalation and transition of the conflict to the most dangerous stage, with the possibility of cruise missile attacks, to which the Russian president has already drawn attention.
Medvedev also expressed surprise at how modern European leaders appear to be seeking to increase military tensions on their territory, despite the possible consequences for their own populations.
In his opinion, the European politicians of the old generation, who had experience and foresight, are history, and the current leaders, as he said, are “nobodies with inflated self-esteem.”
In this sense, Medvedev stressed that the risk of a worst-case scenario occurring remains high.
Previously, Kursor wrote that Medvedev said Trump has “a positive quality” that is useful to Russia.
