The telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz took place in Russian through an interpreter, even though the Russian leader knows German. This was stated by a representative of the Kremlin in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin for the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.”
“In Russian, of course, through a translator.” — said Peskov in an interview for “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin”, a fragment of which was published on the journalist’s Telegram channel.
As Peskov noted, it was a fairly business conversation.
The conversation between Putin and Scholz took place on November 15 at the initiative of the German side. Before this, the last time they spoke on the phone was on December 2, 2022 and they saw each other even before the start of the SVO. As reported by the Kremlin, the sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, problems in the Middle East and bilateral relations between Moscow and Berlin. The President and the Chancellor agreed that their aides would be in touch.
